Zandro, slowly reading through the mini-stories. Figured I'd start with yours since you are the webmaster :) Just wanted you to know that I was blessed by your story. Thank you for your honesty and encouragement. If you are able to add another slot, I would enjoy sharing as well for anyone who is not on FB. Thank you.

Hello Class of 1990! I know that I unfortunately transferred schools after my JR year and didn't graduate with you all, but having gone through elementary, Jr High, and three yrs of HS with most of you, I just wanted to say hi and see how you are all doing. Hope that's ok.

Out of 283 classmates approximately 75-80% have been found. We are still working hard on getting the contact info. So if any of you have seen the list that Annalisa sent out to everyone, please review it. If you see a name of someone you know that is listed with no contact info, please email her through facebook the information or have that person contact her immediately. We don't want to miss anyone!

An Evite will be created in addition to this event page within the next week.

We are all excited to reconnect with all of you. This will be an amazing event to be a part of. We look forward to seeing you all!

Update 2-5-09 Message from Class President

Welcome, Jefferson Class of 1990!

The long-awaited 20 year reunion is almost here!  Many events have taken place throughout our lives.  We should all rejoice in having an opportunity to gather together for this special occasion.  Not only will this be an opportunity to share stories with one another, but it will allow us to re-establish lost connections or even establish new ones.  Now, I have heard a few reasons of why people may not attend, the number one reason being that “I already keep in touch with the people I want to keep in touch with.”  This may be true, who am I to say?  However, if there is even just one connection you make the night of the reunion, wouldn’t it be worth it to attend?  Personally speaking, after I attended the 10 year reunion, I found myself keeping in touch with people that I didn’t hang out with in high school.  In turn, those connections led to meeting other people or finding other high school classmates.  I could not be happier for this.  The point is that you’ll never know unless you try.

On the flip side, many of you have started a chain e-mail message sharing your thoughts and enthusiasm for this reunion.  I applaud all of your comments and am pleased to read of all the hype.  I would still like to think of the Jefferson Class of 1990 as having the most spirit of all the Jefferson classes combined, past and present.  (Just because we are 20 years older does not mean that we are too old to cheer!)  This being said, we need to harness some of that spirit from each and every one of you in order to make this reunion a memorable one.  Even though you cannot attend for one reason or another, it would help us greatly, as a group, if you could contribute to the class by participating in a committee or donating funds, equipment, resources, etc.  We should all remember that this is a “class” event, meaning that we all need to work together to make this happen.

The senior class officers (Jeffrey Lin: president, Ramiro Garcia: vice-president, Peachy Mathias: secretary, Francisco Sugui: treasurer) are working hard to accommodate everyone’s requests.  A facebook page has been created for your convenience (a special thanks to Rowena Millado for creating this account).  This will allow us to send a message to all of you, as well as establish a common site for you to send a message to us.  All suggestions will be heavily considered.  We will do our best to maintain a democracy, but unfortunately, as more ideas are generated, those that may be conflicting will have to be voted upon by the class officers.  This is the only way that we can keep the confusion to a minimum.  For those of you that know us, you know that we will be fair.  For those of you that do not, I implore you to take a leap of faith when I say, trust us.

I, as well as the other class officers, am anxious to hear from all of you.  Please pass the word to all of the Jefferson Class of 1990 members with whom you have the fortune of communicating.  Remember, keep that Jefferson spirit alive!  Be proud of all your accomplishments knowing that the path you have chosen in life all started from a place called Jefferson High School.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey M. Lin, MD

Jefferson Class of 1990, president

Update 1-28-2009

My Dear Friends,

Here are my thoughts on the reunion. Please keep in mind my role will be to help with communication.  I certainly admire the committee that was formed recently for taking the initial steps.  After I sent out my email on how everyone was doing, I saw several responses from classmates who wish to be part of the committee like Annalisa San Juan.  With this said, I would like to see if the current committee members can communicate with other interested classmates.  I know it would take more work because of our busy schedules and the natural challenges of group think, but I think it would be a good idea to include the input of others like Annalisa.

Now my 2 cents (things to consider):

  • Many of us have families.  Summer months(June, July,August) may work best due to most of our children being on summer vacation(some have year-round school).
  • Planning later in the year (Sept., Oct, Nov., Dec.) may compete with Holiday events (labor day camping, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas) where we all usually spend time with family.
  • Travel - many are already out of the Bay Area, State, and Country so picking a date where flights and roads aren't busy will also help.
  • Annalisa mentioned "HOT ASS Party" - Is this what we want?  Should we go all out since we all are nearing the age of 40?
  • A combo celebration - A Lunch/Picnic followed by an evening dinner sounds interesting too.  The picnic would be open to families so that we may share our children and enjoy some activities together.  The dinner would just be for Class Members and Spouses or Significant Other (Just One Spouse/Partner Please) where we can have that "HOT ASS PARTY" that is formal.
  • Cost.  There are some who will be cost concious given the economic picture.  Should we ask for donations and NOT make it mandatory for all to pay? I think it would be great to help out class members who may not make it due to cost.  I think our goal should be to make it 100% participation from all graduates who are living.  That would make it a successful one.

No matter what happens, I certainly plan on being there.  I support whatever the committee decides. Even if we are not part of the committee, we can still contribute in many ways.

Kind Regards, Zandro Cabiltes

Welcome Jefferson High Class of 1990!

Happy 20th to all of you. I recently browsed through last couple of year's thread of emails and went through several emotions.  Laughter, sorrow, pain, and joy were just some of them.  Life continues to teach us and mold us through challenges, triumphs, and through blessings like our children. I hope you admire life as it unfolds and gives us these valuable lessons.  Please know that as friends, we are here to support each other.

I have compiled those emails and added them to the Mini-Stories link .I hope you enjoy reading through them as I have.  Because they were part of our email threads, these stories are not for public view. I have seen unknown names registering on the site so I've kept these articles only available to those who register with their names. I feel a need to keep our personal informatino safe online so I do disable accounts who do not register with their names. I then cross-reference names to our class list.

Please continue to check in to find out about our 20th year re-union.  The link is also only available to registered class members. If you want to see photos of classmates, you will also need to register.  The Photovault link only appears on the left menu after you have logged in.

Bright Blessings,

Zandro
